BEFORE THE BOARD OF PACIFIC COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
MEMORIAL & RESOLUTION NO. 1
WHEREAS, Helen Davis an honored,
respected resident of the City of South Bend, County of Pacific, State of
Washington, wrote beautiful "Washington, My Home", and it was adopted by
the Legislature as our official State song in March 1959; and, WHEREAS, "Washington, My Home" celebrates our verdant forests green, fields of wheat, and small towns and cities; and, WHEREAS, Whatcom County Council passage of a memorial recommending the legislature proclaim "Louie, Louie" as the State song showed that they have, at best, an unusual sense of humor and little if any, musical taste; and,WHEREAS, Pacific County hereby declares that we do not oppose British Columbia's proposal to annex Whatcom County; and, WHEREAS, "Louie, Louie" is a rock-n-roll song no one knows the words to or cares to learn; and,WHEREAS, Pacific County is prepared to fight in legislative committee, on the streets, on the beaches, in the mountains and in the trenches to keep "Washington, My Home" as the official State song; and, WHEREAS, on the 26th anniversary of the adoption of our State song, Washington State Legislators re-confirmed that "Washington, My Home" is the State song; now, therefore,IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Board of Pacific County Commissioners reiterate our unshakable support of keeping "Washington, My Home" as the official State song. DATED and ADOPTED this 16th day of April, 1985.

Dan'l Markham moved that Memorial
Resolution #1 be signed supporting Washington, My Home as the State song and
that copies be sent to Whatcom County, Thurston County, Governor's Office, News
Media, Helen Davis and appropriate legislators, Andrew Monson seconded and
unanimously carried.
